»SANS SOUCI« – this programmatic and passionate motto, which was eponymous for the summer residence of Frederick the Great (Friedrich der Große), was the theme of the 5th exhibition within the series of "30 artists at 30 LINKS".

Due to the tercentenary birthday of the Prussian king, the gallery 30 LINKS started a competition in March 2012 and invited artists from Berlin and Brandenburg to participate by dealing aesthetically with that controversial personality of Frederick and his desire for a carefree living space.

Fifty-seven artists entered the contest and, in total, 176 works concerning the subject were submitted. According to the concept of the exhibition series of "30 artists at 30 LINKS", the size of paper of 20 x 20 cm was a given. The selection was made based on conceptual aspects, in order to exhibit preferably a wide range of artificial positions, points of view and techniques. Hence the works varied from classical drawing and graphic to photograph and painting, from digitised collage to conceptual art.

A catalogue was published with opening remarks from the prime minister of Brandenburg, Matthias Platzeck, and the mayor of Potsdam, Jann Jakobs, as well as three accompanying texts from Prof. Dr. Holger Hettinger from Deutschlandradio Kultur, the author Stefan Leppert and the actor and director Alexander Bandilla.
